Bevel Position and Its Effect on Success of Intubation Through Intubating Laryngeal Mask Airway

چکیده

Background: The bevel position of tracheal tube (TT) affects the success rate while using intubating laryngeal mask airway (ILMA). present study compared intubation on basis anterior and posterior conventional polyvinylchloride (PVC) through an ILMA. Methods: Two hundred adult ASA I or II patients, having Mallampati class 1 2 airway, undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia were included in study. Patients randomized two groups based intubating. If proper was established within 3 insertion attempts considered successful. Results: Successful achieved 191/200 patients (95.5%). There higher first attempt group (88.6% vs 65.5%, relative risk ratio 1.418, 95% C.I. 1.18-16.8; p= 0.00006). similar overall between (97.0% 94.0%, 1.03, 0.97-1.10; p=0.5). Conclusion: Tracheal successful 95.5% ILMA PVC tube. Success both groups. Bevel had intubation.

The intubating laryngeal mask airway in failed fibreoptic intubation.

PURPOSE Prediction of difficult tracheal intubation is not always reliable and management with fibreoptic intubation is not always successful. We describe two cases in which blind intubation through the intubating laryngeal mask airway (ILMA FasTrach) succeeded after fibreoptic intubation failed. CLINICAL FEATURES The first patient, a 50 yr old man, was scheduled for elective craniotomy for i...

Submental Intubation with Reinforced Tube for Intubating Laryngeal Mask Airway

Submental endotracheal intubation is a simple and secure alternative to either nasoendotracheal intubation or a tracheostomy in the airway management of maxillofacial trauma. However, a submental endotracheal intubation is quite difficult to manage if adverse events such as a tube obstruction, accidental extubation, or a leaking cuff with the endotracheal tube in the submental route occur, whic...

The intubating laryngeal mask airway.

T he laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is accepted as both a rescue ventilation and a primary airway management device in both the prehospital and emergency department environments. A modified version of the LMA, the intubating laryngeal mask airway (ILMA, LMA-Fastrach; Intavent Ltd, Reading, UK) exists, which, when combined with a modified tracheal tube, can be used for blind tracheal intubation. Th...

Awake tracheal intubation through the intubating laryngeal mask.

PURPOSE To report successful awake insertion of the intubating laryngeal mask (Fastrach) and subsequent tracheal intubation through it, in a patient with predicted difficult tracheal intubation, due to limited mouth opening, and difficult ventilation through a facemask, due to a large mass at the corner of the mouth. CLINICAL FEATURES A 53-yr-old woman with a large post-gangrenous mass on the...

Comparison of Endotracheal Intubation Through I-gel and Intubating Laryngeal Mask Airway

Received: February 11, 2016 Revised: June 24, 2016 Accepted: June 24, 2016 Abstract: Background: Supraglottic airway devices (SADs) are very useful airway adjunct in managing anticipated and unanticipated difficult airway and can be used as a ventilating aid and as a conduit for tracheal intubation. The new versions of SADs like i-gel and intubating laryngeal mask airway (ILMA), have advantage ...
